17. Blanket L-1 Visas

Under CIS regulations, a company may petition for approval of a blanket L-1 visa petition. If a company has transferred at least 5 L-l employees during the last 12 months it will qualify for a blanket petition.

In its petition, the US company (Japanese subsidiary company) describes in detail the number of multiple L visa positions it needs. If approved, these positions are certified for a period of 3 years and replacement staff do not need to petition for an individual L visa.
